We strongly condemns the arbitrary arrest and continued detention of Ms Meghna Alam, Chairperson of the Miss Bangladesh Foundation, under the Special Powers Act of 1974. This act of repression reflects broader structural failings in the protection of civil liberties and human rights in Bangladesh.
